Banding Of Hemorrhoids- The Right Cure
Hemorrhoids or piles can be best described as one painful and dreaded disease. It causes the veins in the anus to swell and bleed. This causes chronic pain as well as bleeding from the anus. The pain caused by Hemorrhoids can be treated with the help of banding of hemorrhoids. It is one of the most effective ways of curing this problem.
The banding of hemorrhoids is performed at the rectum and the anus. The procedure involves placing a rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid. This causes the hemorrhoid to shrink and eventually fall off. The hemorrhoids shrink because the rubber band cuts off the blood supply to the hemorrhoids.
The banding can be done for more than one hemorrhoid at the same time. It is usually performed when some symptoms such as severe bleeding to severely painful hemorrhoids are spotted. Also banding is recommended for the hemorrhoids that contain a blood clot or the ones that protrude through the anus.
The procedure of banding is a complex one. An assistant holds the anus in position meanwhile the doctor inserts an instrument called an anoscope into the anus. The instrument has a light and lens. The doctor also employs the use of a special banding tool that helps to place a small rubber band around the hemorrhoid. This band then falls off along with the hemorrhoid in about one to two weeks. Usually the entire procedure is very quick. Still the length of time largely depends upon the number of hemorrhoids that are to be treated. Also there may be some discomfort during and after the procedure. The doctor have to be told, if the patient feels a sharp or severe pain. It can be then thwarted with the help of a mild pain medication. Like any other medical procedure, the banding of hemorrhoids has its share of complications and side effects. There may be an excessive bleeding or an allergic reaction caused by the local anesthetic. Also the patient may find it difficult to urinate. They may also face some difficulty in passing stools due to a scar tissue. There may also be some pain or swelling in the anus. However when the process is successful, the hemorrhoids will fall off within 1 to 2 weeks. The wound caused due tot he falling off of the hemorrhoids will normally heal itself within two weeks. However the patient has to be careful, he/she should regularly apply cream or ointment suggested by the doctor. Also it would be helpful to avoid sitting on hard surfaces, instead soft things like a cushion should be placed beneath the buttocks before sitting. Thus, under the supervision of a medical expert, the banding of hemorrhoids can be the perfect treatment for hemorrhoids.
